The Sensitive Skin People’s Guide to Facial Care
An occasional sensitive skin can be really irritating enough, not to mention that it’ll somehow ruin the overall appearance of our face. But the situation is much worse for people who are stuck with super sensitive skin condition for the rest of their lives. Imagine having to go through all of those painful and discomforting moments when they apply the wrong kind of facial care or beauty products on their faces and having to be extra careful when picking out the right facial care/ beauty products for themselves. Among the typical symptoms of sensitive skin may include skin irritations caused by stress, extra dry skin as a reaction to soap, skin irritation due to certain incompatible make-up or household products, and breakouts. Just like any other type of skin, there are ways to take care of sensitive skin.

If you happen to have a super sensitive skin, don’t fret just yet as there are some ways for you to take better care of your skin and look just as good. What you’ll need first are sunscreen, fragrance-free detergent, loose-fitting cotton clothing, specialized make-up for sensitive skin, mild body soap, fragrance-free moisturizers, and special cleanser for sensitive skin. Follow the simple instructions on how to care for sensitive skin:
-
Choose a soap-free and fragrance-free cleanser that is specially made for sensitive skin or acne and cleanse your face with it.
-
Next, get a light fragrance-free moisturizer (but not the thick cream ones as it’ll clog your pores) and moisturize your face with it.
-
To wash your entire body, use the mild soap, and remember to moisturize your body as well with a fragrance-free body lotion (for the mild soap, do not use the antibacterial ones as it’ll dry out your skin).
-
For people with sensitive skin to use beauty products (make-up), the American Academy of Dermatology has set a specific standard that the make-up products for the sensitive skin type should have no more than 10 ingredients (per product). When you’re shopping for beauty products, choose silicone-based foundation and make-up without too much chemical ingredients in it.
-
When you’re going to be under the sun for longer than 20 minutes, the American Academy of Dermatology recommends that you put on a fragrance-free sunscreen of at least 15 SPF. You should also re-apply the sunscreen as often as you could when you’re outside, especially when you’re swimming. Also, remember to wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect your delicate and sensitive face.
-
To avoid your sensitive skin from becoming more irritated and to keep moisture from your skin, wear loose-fitting clothing that are made of light and absorbent fabric material such as cotton. Your clothes should also be washed in fragrance-free detergent.
